The Webster Group Joins USTDA for a Reverse Trade Mission

From June 9-17, 2013, The Webster Group coordinated the USTDA-sponsored Magallanes Region Coal Gasification Reverse Trade Mission (RTM). These RTMs are visits to the United States by foreign delegations fundamentally designed to increase U.S. exports. This is achieved through the delegation learning more about U.S. goods, services and technology within a specific industry, as well as formulating business relationships with U.S. companies. The Webster Group organized all logistics of this trip, which included accompanying the delegation throughout the duration of their time in the United States, and partnering with technical experts who assisted with arranging the business meetings and site visits. The delegation of 10 traveled from Chile and was made up of different components of the Magallanes Region Coal Gasification project, including engineers, ministry officials and business leaders.

Upon their arrival in Washington, the delegation’s days were filled with business meetings and presentations, including a day-long business briefing and a meet and greet with the USTDA Director, Leocadia I. Zak, at the USTDA office. The group then traveled by bus to Kingsport, TN for a meeting and facilities tour of the Eastman Chemicals Plant; then to Wilsonville, AL for meetings and a tour of the Southern Energy Power Systems Development Facility.

The delegation then headed to Atlanta, GA, for some to fly home to Chile. Others began the final leg of the trip with a flight to Schenectady, NY, where the group participated in a day-long tour of GE Headquarters before saying their goodbyes at the Albany airport to head home.

Members of the delegation traveled by bus through Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia.

The Webster Group staff could not have asked for a more appreciative and friendly group of delegates to share in our first RTM; thank you to our new friends in Chile!
