Recently, members of The Webster Group staff attended a tasting and open house hosted by RSVP Catering in Fairfax, Virginia. Though it was one of the worst traffic days of the month, the drive was definitely worth the wait. After we received our adorable name tags, complete with a mini-clothes pin and clothes line, we proceeded to sample the amazing selection.
The delicious taqueria station, which does not have to be limited to Mexican-themed events, featured cerrito skirt steak and cod taquierias. Other favorite hors d’ourvres included the following:
- Watermelon Cube with Goat Cheese – very refreshing and perfect for summer, this dish never gets old
- Petite Vietnamese Bahn Mi – Bahn mi is definitely an up-and-coming technique that we’re seeing more often
- Crab Salad with Mango Ravioli – they had us at mango!
For the traditional folks who like to cleanse their palate between courses, servers passed spiked sorbet popsicles:
- The Cosmo: cranberry juice, triple sec, vodka, and lime juice
- The Mandarin Screw driver: vodka, mandarin orange, orange juice
In order for these to actually hold their shape, there’s very little alcohol involved. However, their portable nature makes them great on the dance floor – guests can continue enjoying while cooling down and they don’t have to worry about spilling!
Speaking of enjoying, the bar was also serving delicious libations that were unique, surprising, and tasty. We sampled both the Berry Smash lemonade, which included a little bourbon, blackberry puree, lots of lemonade, and blackberries for garnish, and the “Night in Thyme,” consisting of watermelon and thyme ice cubes, with grape vodka, lime juice, and more watermelon juice.
To help us to execute amazing events for our clients, we also rely on the creativity and perfection of our vendors. We always appreciate the opportunity to attend tastings and open houses which enable us to stay on point with the latest trends and see the newest offerings of our vendors.
