With summer well under way and our spring events behind us, TWG staff has been able to sneak in some fun in the sun.
Whether it is hitting the beach, the lake or the mountains, TWG team has been to some terrific places this summer.
Lynda, our chairman and CEO gave us a sneak peek into her Colorado mountain vacation this past week.
Between fly fishing, hiking and attending The Aspen Institute’s “Aspen Security Forum 2012,” Lynda managed to organize the perfect summer vacay (not surprising for an expert event planner).
So what exactly is a “Security Forum” we asked?
Well this particular forum is an annual summer gathering held at The Aspen Institute’s signature “Aspen Meadows” campus in where else? Spectacular Aspen, Colorado!
Last week, Lynda and Judge Webster joined many of our country’s brightest minds and most experienced persons in the field of national security for in-depth conversations on a broad spectrum of security issues.
When asked to clarify who exactly attends this forum, Lynda told us “It’s basically the “who’s who” of people involved in the work of keeping our nation secure, e.g. industry leaders, investors, journalists, intellectuals, FBI, CIA.

On Friday, Judge Webster had the opportunity to weigh in on the importance of law enforcement and homeland security with a panel stacked with (pictured left to right):
- Moderator: Dina Temple-Raston, Counterterrorism Correspondent, NPR
- Brad Brekke, Vice President, Assets Protection, Target
- Bart Johnson, Former Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis, Department of Homeland Security
- Timothy Williams, Director, Washington Bureau, INTERPOL
- William H. Webster, former director, Federal Bureau of Investigation and also the Central Intelligence Agency
Yeah, that’s a pretty impressive group—and just one of the week’s many panel sessions.
Between attending parties hosted by Congresswoman, Jane Harman (now CEO and President of the Woodrow Wilson Center) and sitting in on panel sessions with the executive producer of Showtime’s hit show “Homeland,” Lynda and Judge Webster kept busy in Colorado while we held down the fort in DC.
So what’s the best piece of advice for planning your perfect summer vacation?
Like any event, it’s important to keep organized, plan ahead, keep to a budget and HAVE FUN!
